Employees need to understand the implications of the pension freedoms.

Jonathan Watts-Lay, Director, WEALTH at work has appeared in the latest edition of Reward magazine following his attendance as a panellist at the Making Reward Personal event. The debate focussed on financial education and the recent pension freedoms.

During the event Watts-Lay argued that the pension freedoms create many questions around taxation and lifespan estimates which employers aren’t explaining to their employees; “Product proliferation is also creating complexity, so expecting people to work this out on their own will only cause them to make mistakes.”

He concludes; “Employees need advice about what their options are.”
