The University of Lincoln has launched a series of financial education workshops for its students to be delivered by WEALTH at work. The workshops will contain 9 modules, spread out over a 3 year course and will aim to develop students’ financial knowledge to prepare them for life during and after university. After all, for many, this will be the first time they are away from home and having to become independent whilst learning how to manage their finances.

Information about how the students can manage their student loans and how to budget, as well understanding issues involved when renting accommodation will be included within the workshops. Also, the workshops will cover what to expect when in employment in terms of salary and benefits, including pensions, to help set students up in the real world.

Jonathan Watts-Lay, Director, WEALTH at work, a leading provider of financial education in the workplace supported by guidance and advice, comments, “We cover really high level what [pensions] are, how they work, the compulsory elements, auto-enrolment, also getting them to understand that different employers will give different contributions.”
