What options are available at-retirement?

Jonathan Watts-Lay, Director, WEALTH at work attended a round table event with pension professionals to discuss what trends they have seen in the months following the introduction of ‘freedom and choice in pensions’, including investment glide paths, defined benefit (DB) transfers and the options available at-retirement.

Jonathan Watts-Lay, Director, WEALTH at work chaired the event alongside the PMI (Pensions Management Institute) asking questions such as:

  • What are your schemes doing about glide path investment strategies and why?
  • What about individuals who aren’t sure about drawdown?
  • Are people asking to transfer out of DB schemes, or is that quite a rare thing?
  • Is it dangerous to default members into cash or drawdown at-retirement if they don’t make a choice?
