Will the free guidance on pensions be any good?

Jonathan Watts-Lay, Director, WEALTH at work, expresses concern in The Times about the potential level of training of those providing free guidance via the government’s new guidance service on complicated subjects such as pensions.

Watts-Lay comments, “If the guidance is going to be given by people with limited training, following question-and-answer scripts, this does not inspire confidence that individuals will leave armed with all the facts and able to make the right decision.”

He continues, “It may be possible for basic pensions guidance to be delivered for those with very small pension pots and very simple situations, but my major concern is for those who will need to consider a range of factors.”
