Helping BT employees plan for retirement

Recent reports in askGrapevine has shown that over half of employees are unaware of the impending pension changes, and only 16% of employees that are aware found out about the changes via their employer.  Such alarming statistics highlight the need for financial education within the workplace, which would provide employees with knowledge and help them understand the options available to them.

BT started a Planning for Retirement Course in 2010 run by WEALTH at work.  It was set up to help employees make informed decisions about their retirement.

Since the programme was launched, WEALTH at work has educated over 15,000 BT employees, with over 1500 seminars being held since 2010.  Jonathan Watts-Lay, Director, WEALTH at work comments “Financial education in the workplace is imperative in order for employees to learn about and understand their choices when considering retirement.  The Planning for Retirement Course has been a great success to date and has led to some employees completely rethinking their retirement plans.”
